That's bad news for ss, as most people say no to autisme on the check list and many adopted children have autisme...... I can hear them say 'autisme is only a bit of problems with communication, most children are just fine', until you realise communication is tricky but the obsessions are far worse, lol.

Most parents are devastated to hear their child might have ASD - getting diagnosed at such a young age could be traumatic for many parents. My daughter works in a nursery with a girl who they all think is on the spectrum (quite severe) and the mother won't engage with the idea at all. It is something that has to be come to gently I think.

It would help us hugely now. Our DS (age eight) has a range of autistic traits and we are on the waiting list for a paediatric assessment. Up to now, we have repeatedly been told that it’s ‘just’ trauma and neglect. Recently we were told that there is likely to be some organic issue. We are waiting for FASD/ ARND and ASD assessments. It would be hugely helpful now if a blood test could cut all the waiting and it would have saved 6 years of fighting with various professionals if it could have been done on (or before) placement. I can understand that parents struggle with an ASD diagnosis, but we are struggling with incredibly complex behaviour and if a diagnosis made it clearer which parenting strategies might work better, and which therapy might be an utter waste of time, then I would be immensely grateful!
