Managing his emotions

sooz August 24, 2013 16:46
Went for an Indian meal last night with family.Ds loves those little ice creams in the character shaped plastic tubs on their menu.He ate well and was so excited when the dessert menu came and proudly ordered his choice.Oh dear, they had sold out.His disappointment was overwhelming, but he held on, silent tears and a wobbly chin, his head buried on my lap.I offered him an alternative but nothing else was going to cut it but I ordered a different dessert and said we''d share it.You could see he was really battling his feelings, dealing with it, trying his hardest, and he did it! He didn''t have a meltdown, he coped.Bless him I was so proud of him, and today he told me.... Mummy I really liked that dessert you ordered and I really liked that we shared it.
