Personal messaging
There is no PM button - there is a chat facility but only for AUK members who have been verified - most of us "oldies" are unable to chat - which means we are limited in the advice and support we can offer. There was talk of us being able to reply to chats directed at us, but I don't even think that is up and running...and of course asking someone to message is less than ideal...
((hugs)) for you...not sure how old your kids are now - but if they are teens (or nearly) POTATO group is fab for support.
Hi Dorian, Bop
Chat is available to all forum users, regardless of whether they have been verified by an agency. You need to have Adoption UK membership to initiate chats, but anyone can reply.
We have an ongoing program of adjustments and improvements, and you can see past changes here: https://www.linkmaker.co.uk/release_notes
Thanks, Admin
Well if anyone wants me, I can answer! The reverse of don’t call me??!
Isn't that how its always been Scott? I thought the long awaited upgrade was to enable everybody to pm / initiate a chat - so that those who wanted to provide support on a specific topic but were not able to do so - or preferred not to - on the open forum could do so once again? Maybe a slight change - that requiring verification - but not solving the problem as only members can initiate
Safia - it is an improvement - if unverified we couldn't reply initially...but now I can I discovered earlier this week...
Not sure its much help though - I did suggest someone posting chat to me earlier in the week, but they didn't (of course they may not be an AUK member either)
I think AUK have made it clear they are not going to change the policy to allow all users to initiate chat...which severely limits the input us "oldies" can offer - I don't intend to rejoin AUK solely to be able to offer advice to those behind us!
Yes I’d overlooked that aspect as I’ve been able to reply to chats as I was verified (as we’re involved with PAS) but not initiate them and I had thought that this upgrade - which has taken a very long time - was going to let everyone “chat” - or actually pm as that’s what’s needed - and has been argued for many times
