Same sex adoptive parent interview request

Press and PR Officer February 27, 2017 16:25
Our press team at Adoption UK is looking for same sex adoptive parents who would be happy to to interviewed for a press release which we’ll be publishing on our website as part of LGBT Fostering and Adoption Week (6th – 12th March). We're hoping to interview two or three adoptive parents who are in a same sex relationship – about their decision to adopt, their view of the process, the reality of adoption, the challenges and the rewards etc... Ideally the parent(s) will be willing to be identified (with a photograph, use of their first name and a mention of the county, or town, or region where they live). Children would NOT have to be identified in any way though. Is this something that you’d be happy to do? If it is please email ---- EMAIL REDACTED ----

Don't forget there are also single LGBT adopters and LGBT adopters who have had birth children via surrogates and donors! It's not just same sex couples adopting. Far more complex - all creating unique families Several lesbian friends had babies via donors THEN went on to adopt or are waiting to adopt

But that is not the target audience aduk wants to speak to! Surrogacy and donors is not the subject adoption uk covers.

Yes and others have children from one night stands, I can not see why this is relevant. Both methods to make babies have very little to do with adoption. And that is making other people's neglected children your own, often older children with significant special needs.

I think if looking at LGBT adoption - the focus is not only on adoption but the LGBT part - and thus it's important to consider how LGBT families are created, often a blended mix of children joining the family by many means. The same as you wouldn't talk to a straight couple adopting and ignore years of ivf, birth children, etc. To get a full understanding of LGBT adoption you would have to get a full understanding of the big picture.

Its similar to non-LGBT leaflets including aspects about families with birth children which I'm sure they would so worth including
