Facebook Group for Adoptive Parents

smeagie July 16, 2015 11:39
Hi all, not posted on this site for such a long time, but just wanted to let people know about a Facebook Group which I set up nearly 6 months ago for Adoptive Parents. This is the group referred to by JellyBean in the Prospective Adopters forum. I am an adoptive mum to two girls who were placed with us 4 years ago. Since placement our youngest has been diagnosed with ADHD and awaiting ADOS assessment for Autism. She also has moderate learning difficulties and sensory problems. We have struggled with her behaviour and whilst looking for support found there was nothing available for adopted parents on Facebook. So I set up the group! The group is open to all parents of adopted children, if you apply to join you will be contacted by an 'Admin' for the group by message. More often than not this will go into your 'Others' inbox. So if you do apply to join, please keep an eye out for a message from us. In that message you will be asked how you are involved in adoption and a follow up question which only people who have adopted should know. So, if you are interested in joining our ever growing group, please search for 'Adoptive Parent Support Group UK'. Thanks for reading :-)

I imagine it will be a closed group abd you'd have to be invited to join. Maybe pm the message originator. Plus - if you're using your real names here then you may need to think about changing them. These boards are open for anyone to read.
