Comms Manager - what about private messages? I couldn't see anywhere to send a private message to another user - its always been a useful tool when you want to support but don't want too much info in the public arena (as is often the case for adopters for security reasons).

I can't access either as it seems that my email address is too long for the new system by one character. Please could you help me with this?

I was thinking of winding up my forum activity even before this palaver. Things are so quiet here these days its difficult to have a decent conversation at times. A lot of people are on Facebook now and I am not comfortable with that site, though I have used better social media alternatives like my teenage son does(!)And for various reasons I am at a time in my life when some of my main activities in life are changing, and I want to cut back on involvements. Maybe the Linkmaker site is the future,. There might be more people around on the Linkmaker site, with all the prospective adopters. And some people might feel more supported with a live chat option. My kids are nearly grown up anyway. But the AUK site has given me info and fantastic support over the last 11 years and I will always appreciate that , and think fondly of the folks that I chatted to on here. I will carry on logging in till this site is down but leave it at that. Maybe meet some of you in the real world one day. I do hope so. ****Comms Manager, would it be possible, to request that my posts don't be transferred ? or for you to ask LInkmaker to delete them? I have posted probably a lot of identifiable stuff in times of need and to help others, but if this is possible it would be a good opportunity to minimise my web trail. I would feel happier about that. Thanks Pingu

A heartfelt thank you from me to each and every one of you for all your support over many years. I feel its the time to leave. I spend far too much time on the computer.....what will I do with all the time I save???? Maybe I will fill in the DLA form...there's a thought :-) xxx

I think if you delete them all before they’re transferred that would work - if you want to do that - rather than trusting an organisation to do it when I’m not sure they’ll know how to - unless of course they respond to say no problem! Unfortunately I’m not keen on Facebook and haven’t got to grips with how I can overcome this and transfer to potato - I don’t want a general facebook presence so how far I’m prepared to set up fake stuff and if this is the answer or if I should just overcome my reservations Anyway Pingu - so sad to see you go - best of luck for the future - this is what happens each time - sadly!

I have not tried to move over yet, but I really hope that some experienced adopters will register over there - they are the most valuable thing about the forum and have helped me a lot. I will register when I get a chance, not that I post all that often anymore or am that experienced ... but a mix of adopters is really needed to make the forum as good as it can be. Wishing everyone well! Xx
