Very interesting As an aside my sister is a TA and they have never mentioned or celebrated Fathers Day in the school she works at. In fact few children celebrate their own birthdays just Christmas

I used to work in a nursery school - so big on celebrations - we used to have an area with all the stuff children might want to use to make mothers day cards - but it was entirely up to them if they did it / how many they made / who for - some made them for other relatives too - and we would know if there was a child who did not have a mum or was living with someone else so it could be handled sensitively - but even then they still might want to make one! I'm sure we did similar for fathers day - but there were far more children with complex situations with fathers - but they did not have to make one unless they wanted to and could make more than one if they chose. Also Valentine's day, Xmas, any other celebration - they could make cards for as many or as few people as they wanted to. Any discussion would just be with the member of staff and children involved in that activity - so not making a big thing of it and letting children ignore it completely if they wanted to
