Successes

Bluemetro August 22, 2019 14:05

Thought I would start a positive topic. I was thinking today as we approach the final day of the holidays about what has gone well this summer. I thought I would post this so others might post things that might give others ideas.

My DS is 11, has ADHD and ASD, gets bored easily, cannot concentrate for long and finds it hard to entertain himself. He also is below average with reading and writing which can make many things frustrating for him. He has an Xbox without internet link and asked for Minecraft before the holidays which we were able to source. I have been impressed with the fun he has had with it and the things he has created. It was my first experience of it and found playing hide and seek with him on this interesting. (He was much better than me, perhaps because he had created it). Also the fact that he can save it and come back later makes leaving it for a meal a lot easier than when he is on the computer.

Great idea Bluemetro...

We have had great holidays re-grouping after an exhausting year 7 for skweek starting secondary....

Great playdates & meeting with new school friends... social skills progressing so much better in a smaller trusted group in familiar or new exciting locations... great result & confidence boost xx

Baa emerging wise & more in control for similar reasons to above... wonderful to see & hear his insight.... finally getting 'it'.... roll on 10th & school return hope 'new calm' continues amongst the chaos that is school & its wind up merchants ? xxx

Xx moo xx

DD (8) plays Minecraft on sandbox mode and I'm constantly amazed by what she creates without any help or having to Google! She has an amazing creative mind.

Our big success of the summer was having an unexpected stressful few weeks (where I coped terribly!) and she coped brilliantly. It's so nice to assume you'll never manage something, and then to be surprised when you do.
