When the british system was failing we looked into adoption abroad and Russia was one of the countries we looked at.It is not as easy as going and adopting for UK citizens (assuming you are uk)Assuming the info is the same it might of changed in 6years.You need to be approved to be able to bring a childback into uk from Russia. Proof was needed we researched an independany agency who approve for foreign adoption -cant remember name -it is not cheap -Berkshire direction I think. You have to pay the Russian governemnt as well. You have to go prior to adoption, stay after adoption for a period of time. Then return to uk with said stuff. They could still refuse to allow child into country. It was not for the fient hearted or those without money!Money was our issue.Sorry cant help any more i didnt keep info.

No doubt you have come across the specific Russian adoption sites as you have spent much time on the internet. If not they are the place to find people who have pursued independent adoption in Russia. Having gone down the route of using an international agency, which is actually mandatory for a UK citizen since we have no approved agencies in the UK, I would find independent approach totally daunting. However it is fearsomely expensive. If you want more details please pm me.

I have also adopted from overseas and the UK intercountry adopters seem to create Yahoo groups as their method of support and information.I would recommend joining relevant Yahoo groups, I'm sure that there is a Russian/UK adoption one and there is also UKAO (UK Adoption Overseas) that is a general overseas adoption list. The link for UKAO is:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UKAO/?yguid=211057866from there you will also be able to search for specific Russian groups. When I looked into Russian adoption it seemed to be via 1 or 2 agencies in the US. It was £££ - UK homestudy, DoE fees, embassy fees, agency fees, loads of in country costs and travel. Not for those suffering from the credit crunch!Good luck,WHNM
