Please can any Muslim adopters help answer some questions

hettiejj April 30, 2012 14:21
Hi, I''m actually asking these on behalf of a friend - a muslim couple who were approved to adopt in 2008 by a small West Midlands LA. They want a boy who they can bring up as a Muslim. How long is the average wait? - a question that has no exact answer but just wondered what the experince is of others. Do you think the wait is long because lack of suitable children or a lot of prospective Muslim adopters waiting? Any tips to promote themselves?I''m in the lucky postion of adopting two in this timescale (different religion and ethnicity) but have said I''ll try and get some tips and facts and figures from anyone who might be in the know. Thank you in anticipation,HJJ x

Hi have your friends been to one of the exchange days. there are loads of muslim children. we ourselves considered muslim children, but weren't considered by some agencies because we are not muslim. so i wouldn't think it should be a problem. approval in 2008 is a long time ago. that sounds strange.

Are they seeking info themselves. We were looking at mixed race children and each time found that the child in question needed to be brought up within the muslim faith. As Anita says it does seem a long time, especially as there are lots of children out there.
