Sorry but I'm a little confused. It seems there was some reluctance to allow this actually by the Ugandan authorities. And I'm unclear as to whether isabelle - you presumably - actually did a home study in the UK before applying to Uganda to adopt. That would be the usual process for international adoption.

There was no reluctance by the Ugandan authorities, only reluctance by a few Ugandans within in the community. I enquired many times to the LA, social services and numerous agencies working with international adoptions everybody said it was not possible and that I should not attempt to do it. No useful advice was given, only attempts to dissuade me from doing it. So I had no choice but to go and live there complete the adoption in Uganda then apply for an adoption visa.

and I am not just speaking for myself when it comes to this issue. I know that this issue affects many people and has prevented many potential adopters from being unable to adopt. My story is obviously very different, but I would not have had to move to Uganda to adopt my son if I had been allowed to do it here.
