Do you have to pay legal fees to adopt?

Hey folks, I'm based in Glasgow and looking into adopting. One of the LA adoption agencies here have told me I would need to pay roughly £1200 (for the court fees) when adopting. I thought the local authority usually pays for this. Did you have to pay these legal fees when you adopted? Many thanks...

This is correct for Scotland for the last few years.

Our LA paid ours, but that was over 8 years ago. There is a specialist firm in Glasgow that deals with almost all adoption cases in the west of Scotland and are very good - PM me if you want the details.

Five years ago we didn't pay ours (in scotland). But Groovie Gertie is probably right, in these constrained times. Hx
