concerns over panel questions.....

mommycat November 14, 2010 11:56
Hi We are due to go to panel for a lo in DecemberAfter a slight wobble everything seems just perfect and lo''s sw seems to agree with our instincts that this lo is meant to be with us however........Lo is a very fair child with blond hair and blue eyes as I am dark haired and hubby is quite dark skinned. Lo is obviously mixed race but there are questions in regard to childs fatherAlthough lo does not look anything like we imagined our lo to look lo''s personality is just a perfect combination of ours Our sw has raised concerns over lo''s look and so we are expecting panel questions along the line of...How would you support child in dealing with questions raised over parentage bearing in mind you look so different?Have any of you any sugestions as we have racked our brain and everything we come up with feels very wishy washyThanks in advance

Hi,Have you thought of painting your hair slightly?I have 3 children. When my hair is its natural colour I look more like my eldest, but when I paint my hair I look more like my youngest.I like to color it a bit lighter as I think it makes me look younger. If we are matched with a fairer child like my youngest I think I would keep my hair colour lighter as I use usually, but if we are matched with a darker child I think I would go back to my natural hair colour. Also, remember it is normal for families to have some level of genetic latitude. I have bown eyes, hubby green eyes, 2 of our children have blue eyes and one has brown eyes. All birth children. You can always say that sometimes children do not look exactly like neither of the parents.Good luck!S

as JMK has said we were approved to adopt our lo last weekthey never mentioned the fact the lo looks different to us at all in fact commented on the fact that we were a great match ethnically I think that with children of duel herritage they are so happy to come close to herritage they dont question any more Also they commented on the fact that the lo has a lot of interests in common with us and that we have similar parenting ideals as the foster carers A very happy decision for us indeed! Bring on 10th of Jan xxxx
