You don't have to undergo the full assessment again but you do have to re-write your prospective adopters' profile and go to panel again. It is actually the same the other way round (if you are approved for ICA and then choose domestic). Most agencies charge for ICA and you may be asked to pay the full costs of the HS etc. now you aren't going to adopt domestically. Also, your agency might not be one that does ICA which could complicate matters. I don't know how it works if you change agency post-approval but within the UK but should be similar?

I agree with thespouses. Just to add that intercountry adoption varies hugely with the country you choose in many ways including timescales, paperwork requirements, reliability and many implications to your child's experiences, health, delays etc. I adopted a daughter from China in 2007 but would advise that China is no longer an option. If you're considering IA it would be worth ringing OASIS (overseas adoption support and information service) and maybe joining one of the yahoo groups that are specifically about IA or the country you are considering.Good luck, PM me if you want to know more, kes
