Names

Newadopters2016 April 17, 2016 20:21
Hi all My partner and I (both guys) are hoping to adopt and we are considering names to be called by the child/ren. I'm sure this is a common question here but I couldn't find any suggestions. Obviously the typical dad and daddy are sufficient but we are wondering if other people had more affectionate ideas.

I have always liked 'pops' as a dad name - I think it's very affectionate, but then I think some people call their grandad 'pops' too!

Our daughter has always said 'dada' from a toddler. She still calls him it now that she's older. It sounds a bit babyish but I think she gets a lot of comfort from being treated like and behaving like a younger child. A xx

Hi We are daddy(now dad as she's gotten older) and da.We are dual nationality so have the added bonus of being able to use more local endearments.I know of couples who are known as daddy and papa that sort of thing and true to form as your children grow they will change it to whatever feels comfarable to them c Good luck! We are currently Daddy and Dad to two toddlers. They are the only ones who don't get it the wrong way around! I have even called myself Daddy by accident which usually gets a derisive "you're not Daddy, you're Dad!" back at me from my 3 yr old. I anticipate us both being called Dad as they get a bit older, but that will be up to them to decide what they're comfortable with.

We are planning to be Daddy and Pappa because we thought that Dad and Daddy would be a bit to samey!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. We think we have settled on 'Daddy' and 'Dadda' - but like Paulo, we suspect this will get shortened over time to Dad. :-)
