Off to music camp

Our 10 yo AD is off to brassband camp this week. 5 nights residential and she has never even been on a sleepover! She is really keen on her music and really wanted to go, and while she was scared she was making a big effort. I dropped her off and stayed until things were underway. She just called and she has made friends and did very well on her audition.This is the one area where we see her focused and serious - none of the attention seeking we see at other times. She was appropriately clingy when I left but prepared for everything that may happen - I think she will manage, but we have said we will come and pick her up any time she wants a night at home (it is only an hours drive away).

That's fantastic. One of my happiest memories as a child was music courses. Musicians are nearly always lovely and nurturing (slightly biased there)!Really hope she has a positive memorable experience too and makes new friends. Xxx

She managed and had a great week. She missed us and called daily, and has learned that staying up until midnight and sharing the room with noisy girls is not actually that much fun. She has shown that she was ready musically to do this, and that she is not yet ready to be responsible for money. She went overboard and joined every possible side activity and spent a fair chunk of her 'emergency' funds.One shoe was left behind in the concert hall but otherwise she seems to have looked after her possessions.
