Be prepared

As much as we want equality it doesn't always happen with Adoption. The first time we got the rejection we was told the kids need a daddy and that hurt. It's nothing against you personally it's more about what the kids need - i.e they need both a mummy and daddy not just one or the other. This hurt more than any rejection. Our SW realised quickly that their first question should be would the kids be OK with 2 mummies before we go any further! Needless to say this has paid off for us rapidly and our kids come home in March and can't wait :-) not all plain sailing and yes it hurts but when the right children are matched with you it dulls the pain :-) 2 mummies or 2 daddies or 1 of each or just 1 of it shouldn't matter what should matter is what's right for the kids. Good luck with your journey and hope you find the right child (ren) for you all - they are out there :-) :-)
