Gay male adopters required for research interviews

Online Community Team February 25, 2013 13:46
My study seeks to explore the perceptions of same-sex adoption from the perspective of gay male individuals/couples. Over the last decade there have been numerous legislative reforms that recognise the rights of lesbian and gay individuals, and my study will explore if the positive legislation has made a significant impact on the experiences of gay adopters, if agency attitudes have changed, and if gay adopters are assessed and treated equally to their heterosexual counterparts. The study will also hopefully formulate recommendations for practice. The interviews will be an exploration of the adoption assessment process that the interviewee has experenced with their local council adoption team/adoption agency from start to finish, including preparation course, home visit, panel. matching/selection and placement. Interviews will be recorded, and all aspects of the recording will be anonymised after they have been transcribed. The study has received full ethical approval from John Moore''s university. If you are a gay male adopter and would like to become involved in this research, please contact Mark Thomas on M.S.T---- EMAIL REDACTED ---- for full information.
