And you probably know that asd children can really struggle with tooth brushing. That along with hair brushing, cutting - because actually it can hurt when you have sensory issues.

Thanks for this thread - ours all struggle with teeth brushing (and most other aspects of personal care). I had been feeling quite down about it after a dentist appointment this week - she tut-tutted and I felt very got at.....I know their teeth are rubbish, but then they never even saw a toothbrush until about 6 years ago and their diet was appalling!

My eldest has huge issues with teeth rushing (his gums bleed too) and nail cutting and proper hair washing! Mouth wash has helped a little. Go Shadette!

Im not being flippant, but i just remembered that when i was in india the people i was staying with used to chew a special type of stick which had a tooth-cleansing effect. Wonder what it was...

....A licorice stick my mother used to get us to chew them as children - look like a stick, taste like licorice and allegedly great for teeth and gums - bought from whole food shops etc...also rubbing gums with sage leaves...I had very alternative parents!
