He got there!

NM August 18, 2021 20:22

We are so pleased and proud of DS 16, Last week he got his GCSE results and got 5's and 6's for all his 7 subjects! He is generally a good lad but the usual teenage behaviour and is always right and NEVER takes any responsibility for any wrongdoing (it was always some one else! He is quite immature for his age as a lot of our kids are, but he smashed it. Got into the college he wanted to study Engineering. Onwards and upwards!

Thank you Serrakunda,

How is your boy managing with the own study bit? Mine is very practical but not so good with theory etc and apparently on this course there is some own/home study work

I have to confess to be totally baffled by college!

my plan pre Covid was to let him get on with it for a term and see how he was doing. With all the disruption and on line learning etc it was really difficult to guage what was happening. His first report told me nothing except attendance and punctuality.

They had no exams this year be because of covid, all assignment based. I had a call with his tutor towards the middle of the second term who told me everything was fine, he was getting merits and distinctions. So I stay out of it and assume its ok.

He had no practical work in the first term because of Covid, and three days before Easter. He made a bottle opener.

His is a mixed course though, electrical, mechanical, CAD, a lot of Maths and physics which suits him.

There is support in place for him if he wants it, but he doesnt seem to need it.
