No place like home.

I am now 5 days home with my new son from Eastern Europe. After a 6 day stay in the country to get his passport I am very happy to be home. I met the child the first time in the summer for a few days, and now picked him up after a 6 months wait. The great thing is that the child is adopted from day one, this was and is very important for me because I had a very bad experience with a contested adoption the first time around. The child is adorable, sweet, loving, amazing, in other words the perfect child. We are all settlling into a new routine and getting to know each other. As you all know this child has to learn a new language, today he was not very pleased with me as I made a puzzle with him and wanted it finished. (he was bored after 2 minutes) He had a toy car and pretended (good, good, good!!! my asd child never pretends) that it was a mobile phone. Than he started talking in his first language, the voice full of disapprovement. I could not help to laugh, he than put his finger in his ear on the side where there was no ''phone''. It was perfect, he waited to hear what the person on the other side had to say, he said something, waited again, the ''conversation'' was at least 4 minutes. He did this 3 or 4 times ''calling'' different people from the orphanage. He was not upset or anxious, I pressume just a way to feel more comfortable. I managed to record those ''conversations'', that might be nice for him to see back when he is older. He looked at it now and was laughing. He does not realise ofcourse that it will only take 3 to 6 months before he can no longer talk in his first language and less than a year before he can no longer understand it. (for children up to 9 years of age, can you believe this? ofcourse only when there is no exposure any longer to the first language)Before I left to pick him up my friend sent me an amazing present in the post, go to wikipedia an search ''flip video'', that thing is amazing and VERY easy to operate. Very small as well. I have never been ''into'' making 100 pictures and video was never an option. Now I have this flip thing I have discovered that it is actually very nice to have a few minutes film of certain events. You can record up to an hour on the flip! and the quality is very good. You put the usb in the computer and it download like pictures.Best present I got for a long time .
