Share our joy

kirby January 27, 2012 20:32
Hi friends, just wanted to share our joy. We have had our little one home now over 2 weeks, and it''s going so well. We all just love her to bits, and it feels like we have always had her. She is fitting into our family lovely ( we have 3 BC) Our LO is a good ethnic match for us, people say she is the double of my husband. Just wanted to give those of you still searching some hope.Best wishes,Kirby

That sounds just like us!! It was like he was never not here, and he is the spit of DH even in DH baby pictures they could be mistaken for each other!!LO has been here 9 months now, we have legally adopted him and are starting to see changes as he really settles into life with us. Just recently on play dates he stopped going to people's front doors and crying, something that I knew was about the move but couldn't work out how to reassure him that I wasn't going to leave him there, only to keep doing it until he knew he would always be coming home again with me. Now he wanders off to investigate the other children's toys like any other child would after the initial shyness of course. He has started sleeping through the night, although about an hour after going to bed he shouts for us, we go up and lie him back down and he sleeps through then - we think he just needs to know we are there if he calls. He's 20 months now and looks about 2 and a half, which doesn't help when people see him out and about as they expect a far more developmently advanced child.Good luck with placement, it can be a bit of a challenge - see you on the 'Adopters' boards now!!Best wishesSel
