In some circumstances adopted children''s NHS number needs to changed before the AO i.e. if their name is legally changed upon placement (for security reasons.)However, LAs don''t seem to know how to do this so I have spent a while researching and here is what I have found:You need to contact part of the NHS called the National Back Office.However, they do not deal directly with the public, so you have to access them through your Primary Care Trust OR you can contact NHS connecting for health, who will liaise on your behalf.http://www.connectingforhealth.nhs.uk/
