Adoption from India

Hi We're due to start our assessment process for adoption this summer. We're still trying to narrow down a country, thought we had settled on Bulgaria but are now also considering India as we have two young children already and with the UK's age order guidelines will need to take a child around 1 years old. We hear that India has young toddlers and infants with special needs and I'd love to hear from people who have adopted from India in the last couple of years or who are currently in process. I've managed to glean some information from online but would love to hear more about the process, the time frame, the orphanages, the children, etc. I have heard the programme can be a little bit unpredictable, particularly in regard to time frame?

I noticed you hadn't had any replies yet. I can't actually give any advice but wondered if Adoption UK may have more members that have adopted from the UK. Is there any international forums or supporting organisations that you could try?

I believe there are a few on here who have adopted internationally from previous posts and replies, but unfortunately Adoption UK does not have a dedicated forum specifically for International Adoption on here. It would be great to be able to have a similar style forum for International Adoption somewhere (maybe someone knows of one??) as so much of the information is U.S. based that it's helpful to clarify things with other Brits.
