Residential Post 16 Special Needs Education

Flosskirk June 18, 2013 18:28
Has anyone considered/done this for their child? I don''t mean sending them to a residential school because of behavioural problems - I mean one of the residential schools for children with special needs. I am not sure that my daughter is ready to go to college each day from home on her own, but equally, her school''s sixth form isn''t appropriate either. So am wondering about residential schools where she would basically stay over four nights and come home at weekends and holidays.

Yes know exactly what you mean. Do you have one near to you that you could go and visit?

That is where my oldest most likely will go in a few years time.

Oh, Corwnall is a bit too far away - thing is, there are none of these schools anywhere near us, so our daughter will not be happy to go, I just know it. But I know other kids with special needs who go to these schools - one is on the Isle of Wight for example. Still a long way away.....

Way too far - I am really looking for schools in the South East. I have some names - wondering if anyone had experience of sending their children to a school like this.
