30 hours free childcare at 2 for adopted children

jamad November 6, 2019 21:52

Any one shed any light on how we apply for this?

When I go onto the childcare services application website (where a Government Gateway ID is required and the same place that I applied for my birth child's free hours at 3) it does not list adoption as a qualifying factor for two year olds - it does list it on the website itself though.

When I called up the helpline they said they'd never heard of it.

When I applied for free 15 hours of childcare for my 2 year old I went through my LA. I thought it was only 15 hours for 2 year olds not 30 hours as you can get for some 3 and 4 year olds (I could be wrong about this though as I don't need more than 15 hours so never had the need to look into the number of hours more).

If you go to the link below and put in your postcode it will give you the link to the relevant pages for your local LA

For my LA it was pretty straight forward. Had to fill in a form and send a copy of the adoption order and they sent me a document confirming our funding that I had to give to my provider.

For adopted children who are two, only 15 hours free child care are available, and then 30 hours when they are three years old.

When we started to complete the application online we were directed to our local council’s webpage and had to fill in an application directly on their page for the 15 hours. We then had to send some paperwork to the council to prove the adoption.

Hope this helps!
