Medical report

Hi all, haven't done much on here for a while. Things have been moving quite quickly. SW and her boss pushing to go to Panel in Jan (they have a few possible matches in the pipeline, but won't get their details obviously until after Panel). Referees all done and went well. Home study practically completed: SW just adding finishing touches. And is recommending me for 2 siblings, 2-5 yrs old. Had the Risk Assessment lady around, which was all very positive. A few suggestions which provided food for thought, and The Dog passed with flying colours! Phew! HOWEVER, there has been a slight spanner in the works, and a frustrating one at that. And I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of this. Basically I'm overweight: and have been all along! Everyone I've come across so far have all been very blasé, stressing they're not the Weight Police. I have an active lifestyle but I enjoy all food: both good and bad in abundance. As it's never stopped me doing anything I've not really done much about it. I always envisaged losing weight "organically" as there won't be time to graze of an evening with two little ones running around! My doctor was happy to recommend me after the medical. Unfortunately the medical report got stuck in some electronic in-tray so the local authority doc has only just seen it and has picked up on my high BMI. I managed to get an appointment with a lifestyle coach and we came up with a plan and I've booked myself in for a weigh in in a month. I've already lost a few pounds. I'm just concerned that the LA doc might insist on a target weight before approving my application. Sorry to ramble, just annoyed with myself for being to naive and frustrated that no one made an issue of my weight sooner...

I don't know about them asking for a target weight but my agency doctor asked for some additional tests for weight related illnesses eg diabetes, even though I was only a few BMI points over at the time, 27/8 I think. It was a bit of a joke as she was more overweight than me as was my SW! If you can demonstrate you have a good lifestyle and are doing something about it you should be OK. Don't assume you will lose weight when you get a child home though, if you have a tendency to lose weight/lose appetite under stress you might, or you might put more on. I've put on over a stone in the first year, despite my son being of school age and me being able to go to the gym everyday. That's because there is food back in the house that I'd essentially stopped eating or only had as a treat, and I dont mean chocolate - for me it was cheese, pasta, bread, yoghurts, and the number of times I ended up in a coffee shop with a latte, whereas I used to live on prawn stir fries and had a latte once a week. I've made a real effort to cut down but only managed to lose half a stone in 8 months

Thanks, it's just that it was all going so well and it's not like I've hidden my weight!

Well, just to let you know I went to Panel today, and I was approved! For 2 children, aged between 2 and 5! Am over the moon, and yet emotionally exhausted! Let the Matching process begin!

Well done you that's exactly what I would like! Can I ask some questions like we're they tough about two rather than one child as you are single? And I know it's personal but maybe we can take I off line but I'm interested in the childcare v time off work situation and financials that they insisted on ....I'm due to panel in march and my sw is trying to sway me away from 2 ....thank you and best of luck in the matching :)

Ally77me: I've messaged you. Serrakunda: thanks. Branchingout: In light of the high profile obesity is being given in the news at the moment I thought it might have been an issue but I've proved that I do actually lead an active lifestyle and am trying to address the bad habits I've gotten into!
