No Row this Christmas

Lonsdale December 14, 2008 22:04
Every year since we had ds, I have had a row with my mother about spending Christmas at their house (first couple of years) then my brother''s house, despite the fact that he always makes his plans at the last minute, and sometimes this has included going off to warmer climates on Christmas Day! I always said once we had children we would stay at home on Christmas Day and have stuck to this since having ds, so for the last 5 years there has been a major row with my mum saying I ought to go to my brother''s house as his latest girlfriend is doing a Christmas dinner for all the family and me saying no (one year he split up with that girlfriend just before Christmas and jetted off on hols!) So after 5+ years of this annual row I was well prepared for this and ordered my turkey from local farm shop so could say I''d already got plans etc. but amazingly there has been no row this year, so you''re asking has the penny finally dropped? Did brother make plans to go abroad early, so we know he won''t be in uk for Christmas? No, latest girlfriend mentioned to mum that they''d be going to her parents'' house for Christmas (a no children/grandchildren house & even my mum couldn''t think we''d be able to survive the day there), so here''s to new girlfriend and no row with mum this Christmas!all the bestl

Just throwing in a suggestion - could you invite everyone to yours and have Christmas together at your home one year? That way you get to stay at home, and have a family Christmas as well.(This is what we have always done - and everyone helps in the kitchen, so there's no worries about coping with lots of people and kids).
