Top tips for introductions with a BC

DaedaLady October 23, 2013 23:16
I'm new to the forum - so hello everyone!. We have a 5 year old daughter and are adopting a little girl that's 20 month old. Does anyone have any top tips for managing the introduction stage with an existing BC. Thanks.

We did a few day trips to local parks, zoos. They also got her a bear from 'build a bear' and all said hello on it (you can record messages). she kept it during intros. We made a book which they showed her. The kids weren't there a lot during intros as it was mainly me and my husband. Make sure she doesn't feel left out. We arranged for ours to go to friends as a special treat when we had to be with the new baby.

We are starting ours in a few weeks and ds will only be there for one of the 5 days I would not recommend taking bc for the whole of the intros very difficult to deal with bc wile trying to get to know ad in some else's house who also may have children whilest being watched by foster carer I would take bc for a short time on 2 nd or 3 rd day and leave it at that

Hi there. Wishing you every luck with your adoption. We're going to be adopting our third in a month or so (adopted siblings 2 yrs ago), so have been interested in replies to your post. How are things going ? Have you started intros yet ??
