Transition of medical support.

Tag-Tacg September 29, 2022 19:36

Hello everyone I am new to the forum me and my partner are very close now to adopting a young child.

We are on here to further our knowledge and have convos that will help answer questions and query on our mind.

Once a child is placed how hard/easy was it to continue their therapy, physio therapy, medical needs ?

Many thanks

Mrs G

My experience is that my daughter had been referred for speech therapy and they made sure the referral went to the new area. It was quite straightforward. There is a meeting before children move with the child’s doctor so that is an opportunity to clarify what needs to be done. It was the foster care who attended but I think you just remind your SW about what needs to be transferred and they can flag it up

Thank you so much for your reply Safia, this has gave us some peace of mind this is our first adoption so we dont really know what to expect when it comes to medical transfers.

If I get any other questions do you mind me sending you a message?

It’s probably best to ask them here as it was a long time ago we adopted and some things might have changed. Also you’ll get more people with different experiences that way - but ask anything you’d like to know
