After 56 nights in hospital. 23 in ICU and 22 on dialysis. 4 operations. 2 different weeks when he had pneumonia.our son arrived back into his supported hostel today. He is v v weak. Weighs only 46 kg (just over 7 stone) can only walk about 20 steps with a Zimmer. He will have carers 3x a day to help with his care needs and a physio and district nurse alternate days for 6 weeks. We have rented a wheelchair for him He will have to work very hard to get his mobility back. He has had a lot of support and visitors over the last 8 weeks and has reconnected with people who knew him before he got into drinking. He knows he is loved and valued. So.now it will be how he will adjust to looking after him self again .Taking instruction from physio etc budgeting again and crucially keeping away alcohol. As you can read between the lines he is not someone who finds its easy to take instruction! However he is likedlike by those who work with him Thank you all of you for your prayers. . Messages of support. We have been strengthened through them . We are not sure how the next few weeks will pan out for him and us ! There is a lot to sort out in terms of support and how much contact he will want with us . But thank you so much for being there with us over the last 8 weeks.

So glad to hear that he has been able to leave hospital. I hope he makes a steady recovery. It is such a worry. My AD, who is an alcoholic, now sees a mental health advocate regularly and is finding it helpful. Lily x

Thinking of you all and hoping your ds will make a steady recovery. Hoping you can find a little time to draw breath now that he is out of hospital at least and that the coming year will be a time of renewal for him. Much love and strength Mxx
