Adoption UK forum - Safety?

T's Mam May 9, 2020 02:37

Hi guys, I'm looking to post here after a long time away, wanted advice and viewpoints. Am quite concerned though that it's now accessible to anyone via adoption UK...is it safe to post here still?

The forums have always been open an accessible to anyone. Including, previously, very anti adoption people.

There was a private board for members only - I’m not a member do never accessed it

Thanks Donatella. Seems a bit risky. I was a member so glad I checked. Shame, probably lots of people wanting to talk who won't in such an open forum...

Hi T’s Mam,

The Forum is indeed public as it has always been meaning anyone can read but you must be a registered user to post/respond.

As Rule 1 of the Adoption UK Forum Rules of Use states:

1. The Adoption UK message boards are a public forum and the content can be viewed by anyone visiting the Adoption UK website. To protect your identity and security, we therefore ask that you remain completely anonymous on the message boards and do not divulge any identifiable details about yourself, your family or any other third parties (for example: do not include names, locations, contact details, schools attended etc). We ask that you always use your anonymous online username (created at registration) and that you create additional online nicknames for family members, as required.

You can read the full Rules of Use here which covers how the forum works. Adoption UK moderates the Forum daily and we will advise and/or remove on any content that may contain too much personal detail.

You can also Chat with other Forum members using the private chat function if you would rather not post on the forum. You can find out more about that and how it works here.

In reference to the private members only forum: there is discussion about re-instating this and we will update soon on any decision made.

Any further queries please get in touch via [email protected]

Best wishes,
Andrew
