How to post on here

Lonsdale August 20, 2009 23:52
I''ve seen some very personal criticisms on here in the last few days & whilst I recognize not everyone may agree, surely there has to be a way of saying it nicely. If you don''t think someone''s assessment of a situation is a correct, then comments you make need to be extremely sensitive or witheld. People who post here may not have all the facts, but are trying to muddle through and critisizing people for asking for help for others or being too negative doesn''t actually help them - which after all is the main purpose of these boards.say something good or hold your breath is a mantra I try (don''t always succeed) to stick too and those replying to posts would do well to remember this - maybe auk could use it as a slogan for the message boardsall the bestl

I also think its worth remembering that the written word can very easily be misunderstood. I was once accused of saying something quite nasty (via email, not on here) and it turned out my email had just been read wrong. I couldnt understand how the person could have read it that way - but thats because as I wrote it I could hear the words in my head and with it the tone and meaning! My friend only had the words - no tone or meaning! Therefore it was taken completely out of context. I do think some people are getting to personal on here and I think thats quite sad. We are all here for a reason, we are all on an adoption journey and whether thats the part where we have just spoken to a LA to ask for an information pack or we have had out children for 20 years - its all the same journey (well similar )These boards are meant to be used for information, support, help, advice or just a general chat. None of us are complete monsters , we are all normal people living our day to day lives as best as we can. I hope we can put a line under some recent problems
