Televised court trial

Did anyone see the programme on Channel 4 last night? It''s being repeated tonight on Channel 4seven at 9 p.m. It has been a rather notorious murder case in Scotland lasting many years. The father was retried for the murder of his wife. Her body was never found. I found the interviews with the daughter interesting and very sad. She had been a child at the time but has now grown up. Having lost her mother she is determined, whatever the evidence, to believe in the innocence of her father. It made me think about the sad cases where one parent murders the other so that any children are effectively orphaned as the murdering parent spends many years in prison. Of course some children will be adopted in such circumstances. In this case the children stayed with extended family. The extended family were desperate to see justice done and the father convicted and sentenced. The girl, now a young woman, wanted desperately to believe he was innocent and wanted him to come home again so he could be her dad. I thought it was very well done and very moving and thought provoking.Lily
