Initial visit

Bangles February 27, 2014 22:20
Hi I am new to the forum and to the process. Had our initial visit on Tuesday and was given the police/LA/medical forms to fill in. Within an hour the social worker called us with 2 dates to pencil in for a preparation course! She said she would make arrangements to collect the forms and explained after we had been on the course and there were no issues with the forms we would be allocated a SW and continue onto stage 2. Then today she contacted us saying her manager was just going to allocate out assessment SW straight away and to keep the forms for them as they will arrange an introduction visit shortly! Also that we they will be in touch with confirmed dates for the course! I know the visit went well but I honestly thought we would be waiting months for a SW. Has any one else had things move so quickly? It's so exciting but we don't want to get our hopes up too much as we know the hurdle starts now. Thanks

Hi both Firstly i have no clue as to why my typing is appearing red!!!! (weirdly when posted its not red???) Congrats on your initial visit and the speedy process that you are experiencing, ours was pretty quick initially but slowed down and the whole process for us from initial visit to approval took just over two long years! but we adopted a number of years ago and our kids have been with us now coming up to four years. The main piece of advice i would give you is be yourselves at all times, give as much info as ss require but don't embellish!!! be honest if you have any fears re adoption as trust me we all do:) Allow yourselves to be excited! this is a very exciting time in your lives, don't tidy the house compulsively before visits as ss may see this as a problem for when children arrive as trust me children will deconstruct your most prized possessions! We have stored away safely some of our stuff but slowly but surely they are making a re appearance now the children are more aware of our possessions. If you fancy a chat pm me and we can have a chinny on the phone x Regards Westi
