Proud banking moment

Pear Tree July 4, 2013 11:48
Partridge has been to the bank todayHe got a call to come in and talk about his account now he is 18Not sure if he wanted me there, but really I felt he could manage it by himself with support- we talked before going in about the type of thing they might sayTried to put thoughts of a £500 overdraft and loans/ credit cards to the back of my mindPartridge just wants the next level of account so he can have a debit card to use in a shop So I furnished him with his autism alert card and asked him not to sign anything til he''s shown us/ grandad to check through it all He went in the bank BY HIMSELFHe ate the tracker bar in his pocket to steady his nervesBut his tapping moving and buzzing accompanied him into the banks side room....He came out of there 20 mins later- big grinThe manager said ''you just sign it- don''t have to take it home''(I held my breath)Low and behold he pulled out his autism alert card and said ''I''ve got aspergers, can I take it to show mum please?''The boy is a geniusI''m so proud

That's fantastic. Do you know if accounts can be flagged so that he doesn't get sent letters asking if he'd like an overdraft, to borrow £5000, etc?Would be good if you could.

fantastic Little missyes you can flag accounts . Banks are supposed to have accounts for 18+ vulnerable people but often they say no as it is in banks interest to rake in money from misuse etc..ds2 (20) has an account so can only spend money he actually has and not go overdrawn and gets no rubbish sorry leaflets about credit cards etc.
