Small steps

white christmas November 26, 2017 20:08
Our 20yr old AD has just made baked potatoes with cheese and beans for my husband and I at her flat. It was yummy and she put Spongebob on the TV for us as we used to watch it together years ago. She then drew a picture of us with a poem that included the message ... I needed to take you for granted in order to realise how much you mean to me, I needed to tell you that you made me a moody teen in order to understand that you are no 1 mum and dad.... this is from the same person who used to go missing time and again and once tried to tie sheets together to climb out of her bedroom window. I even remember a police officer giving instruction on how to jump from an upstairs window to avoid the worst. I know that small steps forward can easily become steps backward but I feel positive this evening. AD has also been out of hospital for nearly two months now and has made positive decisions so far.
