My son is like yours Pingu regarding coins - hasn’t quite got the hang of the Tesco mantra “every little helps” - so I pick up anything less than 50p (and sometimes take 50ps too) - for me - as they’re not wanted / used and I put £1 coins on the shelf - there is a jar for 1ps and 2ps for charity too - but I need to put the coins in!

As a wrinkly just thought I'd post whilst here as I too loved the "fluffy clouds of hope" analogy - still on the look out for them each day with my two now adults at times - but as a parent to a dd who struggled with everything at school many moons ago becoming a buddy/ peer supporter for other children who had struggles too was such a positive thing for her. Today she is really good at helping and advocating for others in the workplace (not so much for herself still) so fingers crossed for your ds Peahen.
