Good news is bitter sweet!

Well it is tonight....after a very difficult week for my lovely little Lapwing she went to bed and was very tearful, reluctant and slightly rejecting, for no apparent reason, but hey ho that's not uncommon. A little later on as I went to the kitchen I saw a note had been thrown down the stairs. It read ...' I don't love you, love 'Lapwing'... I went back upstairs and found her silently crying and clearly racked with confusion. She couldn't explain or speak to me at all, was looking at me with a sort of accusation and anger, but also looked vulnerable and lonely.Eventually I stopped trying to talk to her and turned her light off and sang her a lullaby...I stroked her head and after 15 minutes she fell into a sleep. Now I still don't know what was the matter, but the Good news, albeit bitter sweet is that she told me how she felt, ( I know she loves me, I know sometimes she hates me/mothers/mummys/ etc/ ) and then accepted my comfort.... that's huge in my world and I am thankful for it..........

In my mind, she loves you and knowing that she feels love for you makes her feel sad. Sad perhaps because love does not feel comfortable in her world.. she will grow to accept her feelings but until then what you are doing is the best. When words cannot explain, I think touch talks to our children and they can accept love shown in that way. I like her letter x
