Carers Allowence and other benefits?

fran1 May 18, 2013 17:40
Hi allWe get working/child tax cedits - no childcare element, child benefit, high rate care and low rate mobility DLA for both little ones.I am at home all the time and DH works full time. My questions would claiming carers allowence affect these and if so in a positive or negative way. Is there anything else it would affect and if so how?Thank you x

Hi FranI've just started claiming carers allowance and I think it'll maybe mean a drop in family tax credits of about £10 per month but as CA is over £200 a month it's not a problem. It'll depend on your DH's income, whether it takes you above the household income level. If you receive Working Tax credits I'd think you'd be fine. My claim coincided with DH getting a pay raise so can't be sure if it was his wage or my CA which made the difference.I got CA backdated 3 months which was a very welcome boost!
