Any Teachers...

Hi,I am wondering if there are any teachers out there who have taken, or are taking/ about to take leave. My query is how do we work our ''Weekly'' pay out? Is it divide by 52? 40? 44? Do we get paid if the weeks fall over school holiday? My mind is boggled

I am a teacher and have now been on leave for 20 weeks. To work out my pay, I just divided my annual salary by 365 to get a daily rate and multiplied it up by the number of days in the month. You do get paid for holidays as teachers' salaries are divided equally over the 12 months. However, it's worth trying to jiggle it so intros fall in the holidays so you can tag them on to your leave!!!

Hi - was unable via a LEA to tag hols in- adoption was regarded as same as giving birth from start date of adoption leave- so certificate is given to show placement and leave/ pay is 12 days from before this but not later- as such our lo was placed just before 6 week hols which were then lost and counted as adoption leave- grim but it is what it is! Pay always came as a mild surprise each month!!!! Never could work it out!X

Thanks folks,Pay is a minefield of confuddled chaos. My HR manager has been helpful, but she is so busy I don't like to keep asking questions, which seem to pop into my head just after I have been to see her her lol x

Kstar, when you count days in the month do you include the weekend day? Sorry if I seem a bit dim x

Yeah to give me a rough idea I just divided my net salary by 365 and then multiplied it by the total number of days in the month (so for August by 31). However, it's impossible to work out and this month I was £300 out lol. In my favour luckily.Toast - you can start your adoption leave on your placement date, so if you can have intros in the holidays you don't have to take adoption leave for intros :-)
