Adoption UK 2013 Membership Survey

Online Community Team May 1, 2013 10:54
Hello everyone, We''re continuing our research to find out about our members and what you would like to see more (or less!) of from Adoption UK.Last month we asked you about conference speakers and subjects. This month we would like to find out a little more about Adoption UK members and their families. Future surveys will also include non-members.The short questionnaire which you can access at the link below (copy and paste the link into your internet browser), covers what stage of the adoption process you''re at, if you''ve experienced any difficulties and a few brief questions about your experiences of and opinions of Adoption UK.https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/adoptionukmembership2013Online Community Team

I will have a look at your survey, but may I suggest that you read the pinned thread under this one entitled "AdoptionUk website project update" - there are two pages already there where users of this site have already given their views and are still awaiting any reply from Auk to their opinions. As per usual Auk do not give any answers or any replies to anyones questions,or enter into any discussion with it's members, so you may find us users reluctant to participate in yet another pointless survey. The fact that you posted this early this morning and I am the first and only person to reply may show you how disheartened your members are with the way our views are constantly ignored.Wishing you luck with your survey, but not expecting anything to come of it.

I have done the survey and I'm pleased to see questions about how happy we are with the messages of auk and how responsive it is to the membershipJmk is right thoughIt feels that the message board community is not felt important yet it's the largest and arguably most successful support group you haveWe give our time like many others give to auk for free and don't feel listened to So, it's a short survey but please listen to it.Looking forward to new initiatives like sounding board groups Auk has a huge amount to offer

I too have just completed the survey. I wonder if (jmk) you are not a member of AUK. If not , then you won't be able to complete the survey.THAT says it all though doesn't it - as far as the boards are concerned. AUK do not show that they actually listen to anything that board users have to say/ask. One of the questions asks about support, i wanted to say that I am very happy with the support that I get from other adopters on these boards, but I could not say that on the survey as it did not separate out how I got that support. So, second dissapointing post that I have put on the boards today - so wish I could put something positive about AUK itself - but I am at a loss.Jellies

Also meant to say that I am interested to see that the website home page does not have any info about the members survey - a bit odd. Not even on the ticker tape thing - yet the publication of the Care Inquiry report , that makes almost no mention of adoption has a ticker tape message and a whole info box of it's own. I have been told by AUK previously that while AUK members use the website not many use the boards - so why publize this survey on here and not on the website home page ?

well the link let me in, only for me to answer one question...are you a current member, has your membership lapsed, are you a SW, when I answered that my membership has lapsed the next message said that I could not go on but do keep an eye out for future surveys that may include me as a lapsed/non member. But please be assured that as a lapsed member and more importantly as a mother of three traumatised children I will when I can help members or non members on the boards.

I tried to complete the survey but, as I cannot afford to pay for something that I don't use much of now (except these boards - training, conferences etc of no use to me nowadays) the survey kicked me out after I said I was a lapsed member. Actually, I have been a member for about 11 years until this year when I could no longer afford to pay.My views are clear on the various boards where AUK has asked for people's opinions and thoughts; but nobody takes them up anyway.

Dear Online teamIf you are planning to do a survey monkey survey every month, could next months be specifically about these boards and the changes you are considering ?I presume that it will only be open to AUK members though ?Still that will be better than nothing at all, given the responses to the pinned thread about the private message boards being mainly for AUK members only, clearly shows that AUK members are saying (and have only ever asked) that they have 1 private board.Jellies

Just wanted to add to this thread that, yes Jellies, you are correct I am not a paid up member anymore (used to be), just someone who has been on here for over 7 years supporting other adopters and sharing my experiences of being both an adoptee and adopter to try and promote adoption and support adopters. But as a humble board user, it seems that my views and those of the other users don't amount to anything.Perhaps if Auk had asked us non members to pay a nominal membership fee to access the basic boards, then they could have boosted their finances, as I am sure the vast majority of users would be willing to do this for a reasonable amount.I look forward to doing your survey Jellies and will be interested to see how many "users" would be willing to pay.
