Will NHS treatment be free for my overseas adopted child

SpinaBifida February 6, 2020 01:16

Hi all,

New to the forum.

I'm hoping to adopt a lovely 8 year old girl with Spina Bifida. Normally in the UK the children are operated on shortly after birth if they have this condition. In her case this hasn't happened.

I would love to adopt her and give the chance to live a healthy and full life despite her condition.

My question is though if my adoption is successful would she receive NHS treatment like my own child would or will there be a cost for it?

Thanks

My husband is a solicitor specialising in immigration - most people applying for entry clearance as a dependent family member pay a health service surcharge which is several hundred pounds along with the fee for their entry clearance application and entitles them to treatment under the NHS. It will be clarified when you make the application but the treatment should be available
