Gift for Social Worker?

Svlacey79 July 10, 2018 21:34
Hiya, We are finally there with adopting our little boy. Celebration hearing is tomorrow and we have one more visit with our social worker in a couple of weeks. My question is did any of you buy your SW a thank you gift and if so what did you get? Our SW was fantastic and we want to show our appreciation. Thanks for your help.

We got LO's SW a card to say thank you. Didn't get our SW anything in particular but I did write her a heartfelt email thanking her and telling her how much it meant to have such a wonderful SW working to support us. We are still in touch every so often even though AO was two years ago. We can spend so much time (rightly) complaining etc. that it's really nice to be able to say THANK YOU when someone has gone above and beyond. Hope it all goes well!

Yes we got a Garden Centre gift voucher. Our SW was absolutely brilliant and was with us for about 3 years because of delays (house move and 2 bereavements) so our relateionship was rather special. Gift voucher meant we could be very low key about it. We gave it to her after panel as we were having a new SW from then on (original had changed job within the dept but was allowed to keep us on until panel). We also got our Child's SW a planter for the garden, planted up with bulbs etc. some time later when she visited our home for the last time.
