Press and PR Officer January 6, 2012 15:31
Dear All, A BBC Radio 4 producer and adoptive parent is putting together a radio about religion and adoption. She is looking for people who might have personal stories to tell about the following:-1. People who feel that they have been treated with suspicion by social workers because they have a faith. 2. People who feel that their faith community has been outstandingly supportive and understanding – or the reverse!3. People who have not been matched with particular children because the “religious match” wasn’t right. She is happy for any to use their first name only, or use a different name. Anyone who wants to talk further in confidence please email ---- EMAIL REDACTED ---- or ring 0771 287 2570 by 13 January. A writer from The Sunday Times would like to adopters whose child(ren) has/have been contacted by their birth parents through Facebook for a 4,000 word feature. She would like to hear from as many people as possible to get a good understanding of the issue and a range of experiences. She is happy for contributors to remain anonymous. If you would be willing to share you experiences and contribute to this feature, please email me on ---- EMAIL REDACTED ----If you live in the West Country or Wales and are waiting to adopt or going through the assessment process, the producers of Postcode Lottery would like to hear from you for an upcoming show they are producing about the adoption assessment process. They are looking for prospective adopters to share their experiences of going through the assessment process in light of recent Government announcements about improving the process. Interviewees would need to be filmed but the producers are happy to preserve anonymity. Please email me if you are interested in contributing. Finally, Special Edition Films is making a documentary for BBC3 about the care and adoption system. Recent headlines and media attention has focused on the issues of 1. Amount of time it takes to adopt a child. 2. The issue of ''trans racial'' adoption or race/ethnicity 3. Those less likely to be adopted due to Age, Race or Disability. The producers want to hear from people with real experiences or ongoing situations of the system. The presenter of the show grew up in the care system, and is keen to explore the many issues, however controversial. Perhaps you have been unable to adopt so far, or have found the process frustrating? Have you been turned down for ''trans-racial'' adoption? Perhaps you have adopted child who is disabled or elder or of a different race? Maybe you have a success story of adoption or think there should be more support in certain areas? Please email ---- EMAIL REDACTED ---- to find out more details. Kind regards, Erika Pennington Press & PR Officer
