You can rent safe deposit boxes from storage/security companies. The cost (as far as I can see) starts at about £100 a year. Obviously if you're keeping the papers for a long time, that works out pretty expensive.

I'm sure there are solicitors who would keep papers for you, but of course there'd be a charge. How about buying a metal deed box with a combination lock?

How about a bank safety deposit box? I’d be wary of solicitors too (my husbands a solicitor) - also from the point of view of going out of business / selling on / moving premises - once the personal connection has gone it’d be harder to keep track off. Solicitors have to keep all files on clients for 6 years then they can be destroyed so it’d have to be a very specific arrangement / service. We have in underfloor safe - don’t use it for storing adoption related stuff - but it’s in a cupboard with lots of junk on top so no one would know it was there unless they were told / saw us using it

Why do you need it out of the house? At various times over the years I’ve found it useful to go back and read through the paperwork again. We don’t lock any of ours up - it’s all pretty accessible but in reality none of my kids are interested in searching through it.
