Introducing myself...

BeckyAUK July 12, 2019 11:36

Hi everyone, I'm Becky Brooks, Adoption UK's Education Policy Advisor. I haven't been on the forums much in the past, but am hoping to be around more on this new platform.

I'm an adoptive parent of two children, with a background in secondary school teaching. I also home educate my children. As part of my role, I keep abreast of legislation and statutory guidance around issues relating to adopted children in education, so I will be glad to answer any questions. I'm also involved in research and report writing around our #EqualChance education campaign so, from time to time, I would love to be able to hear your views on a range of issues relating to that campaign.

I also know that sometimes there is no substitute for learning from personal experiences, and there is a wealth of information, advice and support available from adoptive parents who have gone through the education system, many of whom will have more personal experience of the system as a parent than I do. This is a great place to tap into that.

Feel free to contact me directly by email: [email protected]

I work part-time, so there might sometimes be a little delay before I can reply, but I will always get back to you as soon as I can.

You probably already know that we have some free to download leaflets and resources on our website here: https://www.adoptionuk.org/downloads-and-videos and I'd be interested to hear about suggestions you have for extending our range of leaflets.

Look forward to 'meeting' you on here!

Becky
