DS has a place

Just heard that there is a place for DS at the local hostel, this hostel offers support as well as housing, DS has been there, he likes it, now all we need to sort is the benefits and he can move in straight away, its a few minutes up the road.....not sure if that''s good or not, but it has been made clear to DS and the hostel that we are not abandoning DS but helping him move forward, he will be expected to come to tea/dinner and will still be expected at family gatherings or just to pop his washing round. not sure how I feel, but do know that he really cant live with us he does need to move on and find himself.

that is great news. Hope it works out well for him. My AS also did that. As long as your DS can abide by their rules, then there is alot of support and help in these places. Really really hope that it is successful for you all. xx

This sounds potentially a very good move forwards for your son. He will have his independence and will need to take responsibility for himself, but will have his family near by for support. It sounds as if it could be ideal. I am a bit envious actually as my son is a 90 minute drive away and I LONG for him to be moved nearer. (We are advocating for this to happen and it will eventually, but may be a while yet.) Well done you for all your advocacy and care for your son. I do hope it goes well.
