Safeguarding procedure

I saw this alluded on the adopters board, but what is the correct channel for voicing concerns about the welfare of children? These boards are a public place, but it is also a nonprofit organisation, so I assume you have a policy for this?

Yes, they do have a policy, any charity who has anything to do with kids has to. The policy can vary from contacting the poster direct to reporting welfare concerns to the LA in which a poster lives, or a SW team involved with a child, and AUK have in the past gone this far.Midge

Could I ask AUK, if needing to speak to any authority about a safeguarding issue (which I do understand) do you inform the member about the steps you have taken?

Sparklez, I think you'll find that in almost any CP policy there will be a statement which says that there is no obligation to contact the parent as it is about safeguarding the child and their rights not the parents, hence schools, hospitals or any group can contact the authorities direct without any reference to the parents.

That's a very thorough policy. Wish we could post sections for everyone to review.
