Not disclosing everything to SW

hi-i''m married to african and she has a sister that is ''half legal in uk'' so have not disclosed her.also wifes son from africa has been arrested as overstayer last week and we have always ''avoided'' saying where he is due to this potential problem with his passport-now he''s been lifted.I wanted to be wholly honest-wife did not.Now SW is seeing my sister tomorrow and i asked her not to mention them either- she is NOT happy.I hate putting her in this postion.I wanted to be totally honest from start but went with wifes wishes.WHAT DO WE DO? is it too late to call a meeting with SW + put ALL cards on table once + for all? if we do will all trust have broken down. HELP,I ''m lost......

i think, that complete and absolute honesty is the only way forward for two reasons, th SS will demand complete honesty and anything less, once found out, and it will be, will go against you, and secondly the son in particular is likely to be involved with any new family you have and will need to be checked out. the SS like to talk to all children, even adult ones and not knowing a sons whereabouts will come across as suspicious. their status in the country is not your fault or really your problem but being dishonest about it will make it a problem for the SS and ultimately for you. (IMHO only)

How can someone be half legal in the uk? You're a legal or an illegal immigrant as far as I am aware. Being illegal in a country is a very serious matter, and not disclosing those sort of facts will not go down well.
